INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

Take The Time to Rediscover Yourself

Are you struggling with worry, sadness, or your past? Do you feel overwhelmed, or like life is getting the better of you? Are you tired of feeling stuck, and want a way to become the best possible version of yourself?

Are you struggling with mental health conditions such as:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • PTSD
  • Eating Disorders

Or are you feeling overcome with life situations such as:

  • Conflicts with your partner or your family
  • A demanding career
  • The stress of parenting and caregiving
  • Questions about your gender, sexuality or beliefs
  • A difficult health issue or new diagnosis
  • A move
  • The death of a loved one

If so, then you may find it helpful to talk through your concerns in the privacy of an individual therapy session.

How Can Individual Therapy Sessions Help?

In Individual Therapy, you can:

  • Improve your understanding of yourself: Build confidence in your strengths while taking an honest look at the areas of your life where you still have things to learn.
  • Explore your identity: Use the complete confidentiality of therapy to explore your innermost self.
  • Work on your relationships: Work through your understanding of difficult dynamics with others, and rehearse strategies for effective relationships.
  • Identify Healthy Coping Tools: Whether it’s art, exercise, friends, or your faith, there are many good ways to cope with stress.

My Approach:

As a licensed marriage and family therapist who has been practicing for over a decade, I have spent literally thousands of hours sitting across the couch from people as they tell me their private pains and secret stories. I haven’t met someone yet who couldn’t find their way back to themselves with the right support and kindness. I believe deeply in the power of resiliency, and I love meeting new people and getting to help them overcome their difficulties.

Therapy starts with an initial clinical assessment. During this meeting, we talk through your history, your concerns, your goals, and your strengths. We confirm your diagnosis (if applicable) and work together to make a treatment plan, which would include determining the best research-backed therapy for you and your situation.

I use several research-backed therapies when I work with individuals. These include:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Focuses on helping individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors.
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Uses principles of CBT while also incorporating principles of mindfulness, acceptance, and staying true to one’s values.
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT): Teaches mindful self-awareness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR): Involves learning advanced self-soothing and grounding skills. Also provides opportunities to make peace with painful memories of past traumas, and prepare to deal differently with trauma triggers in the future.
  • Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM): Teaches somatic relaxation and resourcing skills while also providing gentle options for coping with triggering thoughts and images.

Once therapy is underway, we tailor the interventions to you and your situation, and we change things on the fly as needed. Throughout the process, I welcome your feedback and value honesty and transparency above all else. Whether your therapy sessions are a short-term process or a long-term journey, it’s your special time to take care of yourself.
